The Tulsi plant is not only known for its medicinal qualities but is also considered sacred in Hindu tradition. It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi resides in Tulsi, and performing Tulsi puja daily brings prosperity, peace, and positive energy into the home. However, certain items should never be offered to Tulsi, as doing so is believed to invite negative effects or obstacles in life. Here are the things you must strictly avoid:

1. Never Pour Milk-Mixed Water on Tulsi

Offering water mixed with milk on the Tulsi plant is considered inauspicious. It is believed to cause the plant to dry up — something that is seen as a bad omen and symbolically unfavorable for the household.

2. Avoid Offering Sugarcane Juice

Sugarcane juice should never be offered to the Tulsi plant. According to traditional beliefs, a dried or damaged Tulsi plant signals negative outcomes, including financial difficulties and other personal struggles.

3. Do Not Offer Bel Patra, Dhatura, or Flowers Used for Shiva Worship

Bel leaves, Dhatura, and certain flowers associated with Lord Shiva should never be offered to Tulsi. Mythology states that Lord Shiva killed Tulsi’s husband, so offerings meant for Shiva are considered incompatible with Tulsi worship.

4. Avoid Any Black-Colored Items

Items like kajal (kohl), black cloth, or anything in black should not be offered. These are believed to attract negative energies and lead to unfavorable results.

Keep Certain Objects Away from Tulsi Plant

Do not place items such as broomsticks, dustbins, or shoes near the Tulsi plant. These are considered impure and can reduce the positive effects of Tulsi puja.
