Ban on offering plastic flowers and garlands in Shaktipeeths, temples in Himachal Pradesh

Dharamsala: Deputy Commissioner Kangra Dr Nipun Jindal has directed to ban the offering of flowers and garlands made of plastic in the major Shaktipeeths and temples of Kangra district and for. this, all the sub-divisional Magistrates (SDMs) have also been asked to ensure compliance of the instructions.

Deputy Commissioner Dr Nipun Jindal told UNI that due to improper disposal of plastic waste, it harms the environment, due to which flowers made of plastic have been banned in the temple.

Deputy Commissioner Dr Nipun Jindal said that instructions have also been issued to install sign boards in all temples to make the devotees aware about this. Deputy Commissioner Dr Nipun Jindal said that lakhs of devotees visit the Shaktipeeths of Kangra every year to pay their obeisance. Effective steps are being taken for better convenience of the devotees in the temples.

He said that instructions have also been given to pay special attention to cleanliness in the temples. Deputy Commissioner said that single use plastic has also been banned in the district, for this the officials have also been asked to inspect the market regularly.

DC Jindal said that people are being made aware under the Swachh Bharat Mission in rural and urban areas and garbage management plants are also being set up so that the environment is not harmed at any level. (UNI)
