Aurangabad: Actor Puneet Issar, who became famous the around the world playing the role of Duryodhana in the serial Mahabharata telecast on Doordarshan in the 1990s, will perform a stage play based on the epic on March 13, it was announced on Monday.
Nearly 30 years after playing the character on television, the Mahabharata play, written and produced by Issar himself will be staged, in an attempt to make the new generation aware of epic and its significance, on March 13 at the Garware Stadium in the city, Issar said.
He was talking to media persons after taking stock of the preparations before performing the play. He threw light on the play Mahabharata written and directed by him. He said that this play has been presented in a poetic form with rhythmic dialogues. Like the epic the play tells us a story about the victory of good over evil.
Mahabharata has many eminent stars from the film, television and theater worlds. Apart from Puneet Issar himself, actors like Rahul Bhuchar, Meghna Malik, Urvashi Dholakia, Goofy Pental, Surendra Pal, Aarti Nagpal, Vijeta Bhardwaj, Danish Akhtar, Yashodhan Rana, Karan Sharma, Rakshit Bhuchar and Siddhant Issar are also part of the play.
Responding to a question, Issar said that the play Mahabharata shows truth and reality from the point of view of Duryadhana, he added. (UNI)
