Srinagar: A militant and three Over Ground Workers (OGW) were killed by security forces in an encounter in south Kashmir district of Shopian on late Sunday evening, a Defence Ministry Spokesman said.A joint Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) was attacked by the militants, travelling in a vehicle at Pohan in south Kashmir district of Shopian at 2000 hrs, Col Rajesh Kalia told UNI.
He said troops also retaliated and during the search of the vehicle, bodies of a militant and three OGWs were recovered. The slain militant was identified as Shahid Ahmad Dar, resident of Jamnagri, Shopian, Col Kalia said, adding that one weapon was also recovered.He said police has reached the spot and started legal formalities.
