1993 Mumbai serial blasts convict Abdul Gani Turk dies in Nagpur Jail

Nagpur: The 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts convict Abdul Gani Turk died at the Government Medical College hospital here on Thursday.
It is speculated that the cause of Turk's sudden death may be cardiac arrest but such reports are yet to be confirmed.After being convicted by a special court in the bomb blasts case, he was lodged at the Nagpur Central Jail.He confessed parking the RDX-laden vehicle at the Century Bazaar in Prabhadevi,a neighbourhood in southern Mumbai.        
 
Later,he retracted from his confession but the Judge P D Kode accepted the confession as voluntary and consistent with other pieces of evidence.On March 12 of 1993,a total of 113 people were killed when the RDX-laden vehicle parked at the Century Bazaar went off.(UNI)
