2 HM militants killed in encounter with security forces in Pulwama

Srinagar: Two militants were killed in an encounter, which ensued when a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched by security forces in south Kashmir's Pulwama district in the wee hours on Thursday. 
A police spokesperson told UNI that following specific information about presence of militants, a joint CASO was launched in the wee hours by Special Operations Group (SOG) of state police, Army and CRPF in Sharshali area of Khrew in Awantipora, Pulwama.He said as the searches were going on, the search party was fired upon by militants. ''The security forces retaliated, ensuing in an encounter,'' he said. 
 
He said two militants were killed in the exchange of fire, adding that the bodies of both the ultras have been recovered. ?No collateral damage took place during the gunfight,? he said, adding incriminating material, including arms and ammunition, were recovered from the site of encounter.
 
?Citizens are requested not to venture inside the encounter zone since such an area can prove dangerous due to stray explosive material. People are requested to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitised and cleared of all the explosives materials if any,? he added.
 
Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh during a press conference on Wednesday said that about two dozen militants were killed in different encounters with security forces during the last about a week in the valley, particularly in south Kashmir.(UNI)
