3 BJP workers shot dead in Kulgam, Militants fled the spot

Srinagar:Three BJP workers were killed by suspected militants in south Kashmir district of Kulgam late on Thursday evening.
A police official said that militants fired at BJP district youth general secretary Fida Hussain Yatoo and two other workers, identified as Umer Rashid Beigh and Umer Ramzan Hajam, at Eidgah Y K Pora in Kulgam at around 2020 hrs on Thursday. "The trio was injured in the attack," he said, adding the wounded were rushed to a local hospital where they were declared brought dead.
 
He said the militants managed to escape from the spot under the cover of darkness. "Security forces have been rushed to the area and a search operation has been launched to nab the attackers," he added.
 
"Police have registered a case in the incident under relevant sections of law. Investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of this crime," he added.(UNI)
