Srinagar: Five non-local labourers were killed and one was injured by unidentified gunmen in south Kashmir district of Kulgam on Tuesday night. Officials sources told UNI that unidentified gunmen fired at a group of non-local labourers at Katrosoo in Kilgam on Tuesday.
"Six laburers were injured in the firing," they said, adding the wounded were rushed to a hospital where five of them were declared brought dead.They said the gunmen managed to escape from the spot under the cover of darkness, adding that security forces have been rushed to the area and a manhunt has been launched to nab the attackers. "The labourers reportedly belonged to West Bengal," they said.
This is the second such incidents in the last 24 hour and sixth in a fortnight. The attack also comes on a day, when a 23-member European Union Parliamentary delegation is in the Valley on a two-day visit to assess the situation post abrogation of Article 370 on August 5. A driver from Jammu was killed by unidentified gunmen in south Kashmir district of Anantnag on Monday night. Last week, two truckers were killed and another was injured, when gunmen fired at them in south Kashmir. (UNI)
