New Delhi: A special court on Friday dismissed the bail petitions of alleged middleman Christian Michel in both Central Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement Directorate cases in connection with corruption and money laundering in the Rs 3,600-crore crore AgustaWestland VVIP chopper deal.

Special CBI Judge Arvind Kumar refused to grant relief to Michel, the British national, who was extradited from Dubai in 2018.

In April 2021, the court had sought responses from the CBI and the ED on Michel's bail plea.

In his bail application, Michel had asserted that his detention, deportation and custody are illegal and that he was already acquitted by courts in Italy on similar charges, Bar and Bench reported.

He also submitted that he was not required for the purpose of investigation, and expressed willingness to cooperate with the investigation. (UNI)
