Srinagar: J&K Pradesh Congress Committee President Tariq Hameed Karra on Wednesday said that the foreign diplomats' visit to Kashmir to see polling in the Union Territory is aimed to "sell" the “deceptive” work of Government of India.

Karra, whose fate will be decided in Wednesday's voting, made these remarks in reply to a question about the visit of foreign diplomats.

“There are two aspects of their visit. One of them is that Jammu and Kashmir has already been a centre point and next thing may be by their visit, clarity will emerge about what the people want from these elections,” Karra told media persons in Srinagar

He said the foreign delegations were often visiting Kashmir and “it can be possible that the government of India is willing to show them the good atmosphere and participation of people to sell their “deceptive” work around the world”.

Karra said that Congress is the lone party which is fighting against the divisive, communal and anti-sectoral policies of Bharatiya Janata Party in the country.

He said people have understood the Congress party’s importance and "if we will compare it on the state and national level, Congress is playing an important role in Jammu and Kashmir by which the people have been associating with us."

In reply to a question Karra said that Congress is the lone party which is fighting the present elections against BJP in Jammu and that is the reason the people are enthusiastic in Kashmir.

Karra said that the response of the people during the campaign was good and I had asserted people should know that this time the stress on the issues of lane, drain or development should be less and more on the contentious issues like restoration of full statehood, land and job rights.

He said people have been humiliated by the scraping of Article 370 unconstitutionally and undemocratically and with that humiliation the people are casting their votes.
