Mumbai/Pune: A large cache of weapons, the three AK-47s and large numbers of cartridges, were found on a boat in Srivardhan in Raigad coast of Maharashtra Thursday which forced authorities to sound high alert.
Three AK-47 rifles were found from the suspicious boat on the beach in Shrivardhan in Raigad district and life jackets and other suspicious materials were also found in another boat in Harihareshwar. Due to this incident, the police has issued an alert in the coastal area.
Meanwhile, police refused to give any information about it.
According to information received from police sources, two suspicious boats were found near the beaches of Harihareshwar and Bharadkhol in Srivardhan and three AK-47 rifles were found in one of the boats along with some live cartridges were also seized by the police.
At the same time, life jackets and other suspicious materials have been found on the Bhardakhol beach. Therefore, now the police have seized the suspicious boats found and are started investigating whether the militants were again preparing to attack on Mumbai or other parts in the state.
A few days ago, the police had received information that some suspicious boats had been found on the shores of Konkan. After that, the police increased patrolling in these areas.
On November 26, 2008, terrorists from Pakistan entered Mumbai by sea. The militants killed more than 250 innocent people by firing indiscriminately at many places in Mumbai. Apart from this, RDX, which was used in the 1993 Bomb blasts in Mumbai, landed on the beach of Shrivardhan.
Therefore, now the police are investigating whether there was a plan to carry out same act in Mumbai or other places in the state due to the stockpile of weapons found by the police Thursday. (UNI)
