Amit Shah arrives Kolkata on two-day visit to West Bengal

Kolkata:Ahead of the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in the city in the wee hours of Saturday on a two-day visit to the state.
Mr Shah was welcomed at NSCBI airport by several BJP leaders, including Kailash Vijayvargiya and state party president Dilip Ghosh.The BJP leadership in Bengal is agog with the two-day visit of Mr Shah.
 
According to a tentative itinerary, Mr Shah is likely to hold a meeting with the officials of the National Investigating Agency (NIA), and then visit the ancestral home of Swami Vivekananda in central Kolkata before flying to Medinipur in a helicopter.
 
There he would pay a visit to Sidheswari Mandir and then pay a floral tribute to revolutionary Khudiram Bose.Mr Shah will also visit the Mahamaya Mandir and offer puja there and then will have lunch at a farmer's house in Belijuri village in West Medinipur.
 
He is expected to address a public meeting at Medinipur College ground and then return to this city in the evening and preside over a couple of meetings in south Kolkata.
 
On Sunday morning,  Mr Shah will fly to Visva Bharati and attend a programme at Bangladesh Bhawan.
 
Then he would have lunch with Baul singer at Paruldanga before holding a roadshow there and address a media conference at Bolpur.He will fly to Andal airport and return to Delhi.

Paying a floral tribute to Swami Vivekananda at his ancestral home at Shimla Street in north Kolkata, Mr Shah said the saint had connected the " adhwatik chetana with modern thinking."
 
" This the place where Vivekananda Ji was born. Vivekananda Ji connected modernity and spirituality. I pray that we can walk on the path he showed us," Mr Shah later told reporters after visiting the Swamiji's ancestral home, which was renovated by the Ramakrishna Mission and converted it a museum.
 
Though the Swamiji died young but his teachings are still very relevant for modern India, Mr Shah said and added that he was indeed very fortunate with the visit to his home in the city.
 
" Swamiji made India's Sanatan dharma known to the westerners during his visit to America and made India proud in the world of his teachings," said Mr Shah.
 
Earlier Mr Shah, accompanied by Kailash Vijayvardiya, Dilip Ghosh and Mukul Roy, was greeted with the beating drums and blowing of conch shells at the museum where he also performed Shiva puja and offered prayers at the photos of Raramkrisha and Swami Vivekananda.

by senior BJP leaders from Bengal, including Kailash Vijayvargiya and Dilip Ghosh.
 
Upon reaching the state, Amit Shah said that he bows to the land of Gurudev Tagore, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar and Syama Prasad Mukherjee."Reached Kolkata! I bow to this revered land of greats like Gurudev Tagore, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar & Syama Prasad Mookerjee," Shah wrote on Twitter.
 
"Had the profound fortune of spending time at the Ramakrishna Mission & pay tributes to Swami Vivekananda Ji. He was a great son of Mother India who devoted his life to National Resurgence. May his ideals continue to inspire us to transform India into a land of enlightened
wisdom," he said.
 
Mr Shah has flown to Medinipur where he is scheduled to meet a farmer family and have lunch with them. Later in the day, Shah will address a public rally on Midnapore College ground in Paschim Medinipur district.(UNI)
