New Delhi: The condition of former finance minister and senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley is stated to be stable, but critical, sources said.

The senior BJP leader is undergoing treatment at AIIMS, under a team of multidisciplinary doctors, comprising nephrologists, cardiologists and endocrinologists.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia visited AIIMS on Sunday, to enquire about Mr Jaitley’s health.

Later, Mr Kejriwal tweeted, “Visited Sh Arun Jaitley ji. I pray to God for his good health and fast recovery.”

Leaders of various political parties visited AIIMS on Saturday, to enquire about Mr Jaitley’s health, including Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Congress leaders Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Jyotiraditya Scindia.

Home Minister Amit Shah visited AIIMS late on Friday night.

Mr Jaitley was admitted to AIIMS on August 9, after he complained of breathlessness, weakness and restlessness.

President Ram Nath Kovind, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited AIIMS on Friday, to inquire about the former minister.

Dr Vardhan and Minister of State for Health Ashwini Choubey were present during the visit of the President.

Mr Jaitley had undergone a renal transplant last year and Railways Minister Piyush Goyal handled the portfolio of Finance for sometime.

Due to his ill health, Mr Jaitley could not present the last budget of the Modi government’s first term in February and the task was passed on to Mr Goyal. (UNI)
