Rampur: After avoiding to appear before the court for the past several months, senior Samajwadi Party leader and Lok Sabha member from Rampur, Mohammad Azam Khan, along with his Legislator wife Tanzin Fatima and MLA son Abdullah Azam, surrendered before a local court here on Wednesday.
The family surrendered before ADJ-6 Dhirendra Kumar, who sent them on judicial custody in jail till March 2, after rejection of their bail applications in connection with the forged birth certificates of Abdullah.
Mr Khan, along with his wife and son, were forced to surrender before the court, after a non-bailable warrant was issued against them, along with attachment of his properties. The family did not appear in the court, even after issuance of several summons, notices and even bailable warrants.
However, police officials in the court requested the court to lodge Mr Khan and his family members in some other district as in Rampur jail, there could be a law and order problem.
The court is yet to decide on the matter.
The court had, on Monday, rejected the anticipatory bail of the trio and issued attachment notice and non-bailable warrants.
BJP leader in Rampur Akash Saxena had lodged an FIR at Gang police station on January 3, 2019 about the fraud and two birth certificates of Abdullah. Police had filed the charge sheet in the court in April, 2019.According to charges, Abdullah have two passports, two PAN cards, along with two birth certificates.
In one birth certificate, issued by Rampur Nagar Palika, the date was January 1,1993, while the other one , in which it was said that he was born in Lucknow, claimed that his date of birth to be September 30, 1990.
Along with Abdullah, the case was registered against Azam Khan and his wife as they had given affidavit for the second birth certificate. (UNI)
