Ban on sale of firecrackers to continue in Delhi-NCR: SC

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday refused to modify its earlier order on firecrackers' sale in Delhi-NCR. The Supreme Court had said that we would ascertain after Diwali what would be the difference in pollution? A bench of the apex court, headed by Justice AK Sikri refused to modify the apex court's earlier order.
 

Keeping in view the increasing level of pollution in Delhi and NCR, the apex court banned sale of firecrackers and said, we would ascertain after Diwali what is the difference and is there any decrease in pollution level. Certain traders of firecrackers with valid licences had knocked the doors of the apex court seeking its direction to modify its earlier order which had put a ban on firecrackers sale. The ban on sale would continue till further hearing in the case. (UNI)
