BJP 4 short of a century in Upper House after Guj & Assam RS bypolls

The saffron party is inching closer to the triple-figure in the upper house which was once the area of concern for the Modi and Shah duo when the BJP came to power 7 years ago with complete majority. 

The ruling party of the state has bagged both the seats in Rajya Sabha which fell vacant after the death of congress veteran Ahmed Patel and BJP's Abhay Bharadwaj. BJP announced Dinesh Prajapati and Rambhai Mokaria as the candidates for the by-polls who were elected unopposed after the dummy candidates rollbacked the candidature and no one from congress filed nomination.

Guwahati:Biswajit Daimary has been elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Assam.
BJP’s Biswajit Daimary was declared winner of the by-election to the Rajya Sabha seat from Assam on Tuesday.
 
No other candidate from any other party filed nomination for the bye-elections to the Upper House.February 22 was the last day of withdrawal of candidature.The Rajya Sabha seat had remained vacant since Biswajit Daimary had resigned from the Upper House in November.
 
Biswajit Daimary, a former BPF strongman, in the following days had also jumped ships and joined the BJP.

Before the bypolls on both the state the BJP's tally was 93 . After the trios election unopposed the BJP is just 4 short of a century which is already the biggest party in Rajya Sabha(UNI)
