BJP appears to get majority on its own in Karnataka

Bengaluru: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is appearing to heading for a simple majority on its own in Karnataka, according to latest trends.The party was ahead in 102 assembly constituencies out of 195 for which trends were available from the Election
Commission.
The ruling party Congress is far behind with only 53 seats followed by JD(S) 37 and its alliance partner BSP of Mayawati one and others two.According to vote share break up, BJP has polled 38.3 per cent while the Congress has secured 37.5 per cent and JD(S) 17.2.
 
The trends indicated that the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was trailing in both Chamundeshwari and Badami.In Chamundeshwari, JD(S) candidate G T Deve Gowda was leading by over 13,000 votes and in Badami, Mr Siddaramaiah was trailing by 420 seats.The BJP chief ministerial candidate B S Yeddyurappa was cruising to a comfortable victory in Shikaripura over his Congress opponent G Malatesha by over 11,000 votes.

JD(S) state president and former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy was leading in Channapatna and Ramnagara.(UNI)
