Mumbai: The BJP on Wednesday flayed the CPI(M)-led Kerala Government for issuing an instruction for schools authorising only heads of the institutions have the authority to hoist the national flag colour at schools and government institutions."Fascist regime of CPI(M)-led CM Pinarayi Vijayan in Kerala has been killing our cadres brutally and is now killing the democratic spirit. Time for the nation to unite in opposing this intolerant, dictatorial regime," BJP spokesman GVL Narasimha Rao tweeted.
Though many see the circular issued by the state government’s General Administration Department (GAD) as a routine matter, it is crucial to note that the issue has assumed significance in the context of the controversy that came up after RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat unfurled the Tricolour at Karnaki Amman Higher Secondary School at Vadakkumthala in Palakkad, on the last Independence Day.The new Kerala Government order says that only heads of institutions can hoist the national flag at government offices and government and aided schools. It says that flag-hoisting should be followed by singing of the National Anthem.(UNI)
