Phagwara: Punjab Police have registered a case against a broadband technician for allegedly repeatedly raping a young married woman by blackmailing her, an officer said on Thursday.
The victim, residing in Shalimar Garden in Phagwara, disclosed before the police that she had WIFI in her house and developed close relations with the accused who usually visited her address to rectify technical error.
The accused, identified as Rahul Sharma, is a resident of Chachoki village near this city.
SP Rupinder Kaur Bhatti said the victim told the police she gave Rs 1 lakh as loan to the accused for his sister's marriage, and stayed in his house for three nights during the wedding.
The victim told the police that during all three nights the accused served her cold drinks after mixing light Intoxicants and developed physical relations with her when she fell unconscious. He also captured vulgar videos of the woman and started blackmailing her so as to rape her repeatedly.
No arrest has been made so far.
