Chandrayaan-3 Mission: ISRO release images captured by Lander Camera

Chennai: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Friday released images captured by the Lander Imager (LI) Camera-1 carried by third moon mission Chandryaan-3 spacecraft soon after the Lander Module (LM) got separated from the Propulsion Module (PM).
 
The Space Agency released two images captured on August 15 and 17.
 
 
ISRO released the images shortly before it performed deboosting operations for descending the Lander Module to a slightly lower Orbit ahead of soft landing on the South Polar region of the moon on August 23.

Exactly 34 days after the launch of Chandrayaan-3 on July 14, the propulsion module and the lander module parted ways yesterday and embarked on their respective journeys the lander module got successfully separated from the propulsion module.
 
The Chandrayaan-3 consists of a lander module, a propulsion module and a rover. The main function of the propulsion module is to carry the lander module from launch vehicle injection till 100-km orbit around the moon.
 
“The lander will have the capability to soft land at a specified site and deploy the rover, which will carry out in-situ chemical analysis of the lunar surface. Both the lander and the rover have scientific payloads to carry out experiments on the lunar surface", according to ISRO.
 
The lander will make a soft landing on the moon on August 23 at 5.47 p.m. (UNI)
