Chinese mouthpiece Global Times, Turkish TRT channel blocked for promoting Pakistani campaign

New Delhi: India on Wednesday banned Chinese Communist Party’s Global Times and its news agency Xinhua for spreading false and fabricated reports about Operation Sindoor.

The government also blocked Turkish TV channel TRT for misleading public through disinformation.

India had earlier banned a number of Pakistani TV channels, social media accounts of Pakistani politicians and various media persons.

The Indian government said unverified information was being circulated by Global Times and Xinhua.

Xinhua serves as a state-owned news agency and was involved in promoting Pakistani propaganda during heightened tensions between the India and Pakistan.

Indian Embassy in Beijing had earlier warned Chinese media not to spread false and fabricated reports.
