Mumbai:Devendra Fadnavis on Friday resigned as the chief minister of Maharashtra in the wake of the tenure of the incumbent Maharashtra Assembly getting over on November 9.The governor has asked him to continue as Acting Chief Minister, till alternate arrangements are made.
Earlier, The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party-Shiv Sena alliance won 161 constituencies out of which BJP bagged highest 105 and Shiv sena won only 56. the opposition Congress-Nationalist Congress Party nominees won 44 and 54 seats respectively, Later a 50-50 deal was struck by Shiv Sena which said the 5 year of CM tenure should be divided between both the parties. After 14 days of dillema Fadnavis finally had no option to resign. (UNI)
