New Delhi: The Congress on Wednesday celebrated its 138th Foundation Day at its headquarters here. On the occasion, Congress party President Mallikarjun Kharge unfurled the flag in the presence of senior leaders.

Kharge tweeted and wrote, "Indian National Congress has always worked for the well-being and progress of the people of India."

"We firmly believe in equality of opportunity guaranteed in political, economic and social rights, enshrined in the Constitution of India," he tweeted.

On this occasion, senior leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Venugopal, Pawan Bansal and steering committee members were also present at AICC headquarters here.

"To make the Congress party inclusive, we have to involve youth and women, marginalized sections, intellectuals and take them along with us to fight against inflation, unemployment and hatred," Kharge said.

"It has already started in Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra. Our crores of workers spread across the country have once again got "Sanjivani". The yatra has shown that the ideology of the Congress is finding tremendous support in the country and this has created panic among our opponents today. We request the countrymen to join this struggle for the better future of India, appeal that they all should join this journey," he added.

During the Congress regime, UPA government formed, be it RTI, RTE, Food Security Act, MGNREGA, Forest Rights or Land Acquisition Act, all these have left the impression of Congress ideology on the people and the country, he said. (UNI)
