Belagavi: National BJP General Secretary CT Ravi on Wednesday lashed out at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge over his controversial 'dog' remark and hurled a 'dog' jibe of his own.
Taking a swipe at Kharge, Ravi called the present-day Congress as Italian Congress, indirectly targeting Sonia Gandhi as she is by birth an Italian.
"Not a single dog of the Italian Congress barks and wags tails in favour of India and the Indian Army. They bark in favour of China and Pakistan. This Congress is different from Mahatma Gandhi's."
"The present-day Congress is the Italian Congress which is being raised by China and Pakistan. If there is a skirmish between India and China in Tawang it barks in favour of China. Mr Kharge is advocating such an Italian Congress," he told reporters here.
Ravi said the Congress has changed over time. The party was started by AO Hume in 1885 which was not the Congress of the dream of independent India because he used his intellect to establish a platform against India gaining Independence.
"After the entry of Lal-Bal-Pal, that (Hume's) Congress died. Then Gopal Krishna Gokhale and Mahatma Gandhi's Congress came into being. After that came Nehru's Congress, which gave birth to dynastic politics and corruption. The present-day Congress is the Italian Congress," he reiterated.
Ravi further questioned Congress that it fought for the Indian Independence to loot. "Let's admit that Congress fought for Indian Independence. Was it to loot India? Was it to make good fortune for four to five generations of Congress families as told by former Speaker Ramesh Kumar?" he asked.
Ravi said that Kharge must understand that the Jan Sangh was born in 1951 and BJP in 1980, but it fought against Indira Gandhi during Emergency to protect democracy.
"The Jana Sangh workers ousted the dictatorial regime of Indira Gandhi and brought Janata Party to power. We have fought to protect the constitution," he argued.
Meanwhile, BJP MLA Rameshwar Sharma also slammed Kharge. He said: "Kharge has become used to counting dogs. He has not developed the habit of counting humans and respecting patriots. This is the Congress that roams around like Sonia Gandhi's court dogs and they see from the same point of view."
"The one who is a dog himself sees others like a dog, so Kharge should understand that if he himself has become the dog of Sonia Gandhi's 10 Janpath, then calling a dog is a crime," (UNI)
