New Delhi: An Air India special flight carrying 324 Indian nationals from coronavirus-hit Wuhan city of China reached Delhi at 0724 hrs on Saturday.

The government decided to evacuate Indian nationals from China due to the increasing infection of the novel coronavirus that has so far killed 259 people in China alone.

All 324 passengers that were brought by a special flight will be kept for 14 days in specially built camps at Manesar and Chawla so that they do not come in contact with other people. Since it may take 14 days for the symptoms of the virus to appear, arrangements have been made to keep these passengers away from the population for 14 days.

A team of doctors will regularly check their health.

Air India’s Boeing 747 double-decker jumbo aircraft left Delhi at 1317 hrs on Friday afternoon and took a return flight from Wuhan at around 0100 hrs.

Five doctors of Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and a paramedical staff of Air India were also sent on the flight. All passengers were screened before boarding the aircraft in Wuhan.

Notably, more than 9,800 cases of novel coronavirus have been confirmed worldwide, out of which, 99 per cent are from China. (UNI)
