Srinagar: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan on Saturday allegedly committed suicide by shooting self in Srinagar on Saturday, official sources said.
They said panic gripped Ram Munshi Bagh area of the city when some firing shots were heard in F-Company of 79 Batallion CRPF camp in the morning. Other personnel rushed to the spot and found a jawan identified as Purkha Sukhdev, resident of Tilangana, in a pool of blood, they said.Purkha was immediately rushed to 92 Base hospital where he was declared brought dead.
It was not immediately clear why the jawan took this extreme step, they said, adding that police has registered a case and started investigation.This was the third such incident when security force personnel committed suicide in the valley during the past four days. Two soldiers committed suicide with their service weapons in the frontier district of Kupwara recently.(UNI)
