Cyber criminals loot over Rs 125 crore from people in Odisha in last 3 yrs

Bhubaneswar: Cyber criminals have looted over Rs 125 crore from people in in last three years in Odisha, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi told the state Assembly on Monday.
 
Replying to a question from Prashant Behera (BJD), the Chief Minister said the state lost Rs 125,63,17,674 to cyber fraud between 2021 and 2023 but only Rs 2.52 crore was retrieved.
 
He said a total of 6, 368 cases were registered and 1388 cyber criminals have been arrested during the period.
 
The cybercriminals duped Rs 40, 39,70,514 in 2021, Rs 37,28,96,982 in 2022, and Rs 47,94,50,178 in 2023.
 
As many as 2037 cases were registered in 2021, 1983 cases in 2022, and 2348 cases in 2023,he said.

Police arrested 425 cyber frauds in 2021, 441 in 2022, and 522 in 2023 in connection with their involvement in various cyber crimes.
