Deep Depression remnant of Cyclonic Storm ‘JAWAD’ to weaken further into depression: IMD

Hyderabad: The Deep Depression, remnant of Cyclonic Storm ‘JAWAD’ (pronounced as JOWAD), over westcentral Bay of Bengal moved north-northeastwards with a speed of 15 kmph during the past six hours, and lay centered at 0530 hours on Sunday over northwest and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal near Lat. 18.2°N and Long. 85.4°E, about 230 km east-northeast of Vishakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), 130 km south-southeast of Gopalpur (Odisha), 180 km south-southwest of Puri (Odisha) and 270 km south-southwest of Paradip (Odisha).

India Meteorological Department (IMD) in a bulletin said, It is likely to move north-northeast wards, weaken further into a depression and reach Odisha coast near Puri around noon of today.

Subsequently, it is likely to continue to move north-northeastwards along Odisha coast towards West Bengal coast and weaken into a well marked low pressure area during the subsequent 12 hours, the bulletin added.

Meanwhile, Cyclone Warning Centre (CWC), Visakhapatnam in a weather warning to fishermen for Andhra Coast from 0600 hours this morning said squally winds speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph is likely to prevail along & off Andhra Pradesh coast and Yanam till morning.

Sea condition would be rough to very rough along and off Andhra Pradesh and Yanam coasts today.

Fishermen are advised not to venture along and off Andhra Pradesh coast on December 5.

Local Cautionary signal number - III (LC-III) at Visakhapatnam, Kalingapatnam, Bheemunipatnam, Gangavaram & Kakinada ports was kept hoisted and also Distant Cautionary signal number - I (DC-I) at Machilipatnam, Nizampatnam & Krishnapatnam ports was hoisted.

Informatory message to Vadarevu port was also sent, the CWC said. (UNI)
