ED conducts multiple raids at Delhi, UP in religious conversion case

New Delhi:Enforcement Directorate(ED) on Saturday conducted multiple raids in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh in connection with an ongoing probe in religious conversion case against Md Umar Gautam.
According to a source, the probe agency sleuths have raided the premises of Islamic Dawah Centre, the house of Md Umar Gautam, his associate Mufti Qazi Jahangir, all located in Jamia Nagar here whereas the office of Al Hassan Education, Guidance Education and Welfare Society located at Lucknow were also searched.
 
During search, the agency seized many incriminating documents and electronic evidences of financial transactions, details of the organisational set ups in other states, the sources further added.
 
Uttar Pradesh’s Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) had arrested Gautam and his associate Mufti Qazi Jahangir Qasim, both residents of Jamia Nagar in Delhi in last month claiming that the duo were allegedly involved in mass conversion racket” across India.
 
The UP ATS has also claimed that the accused persons allegedly received funding from international organisations and targeted specially-abled children and other vulnerable groups for conversion to Islam.(UNI)
