Hamirpur:Family members of young Sepoy Ankush Thakur who had laid down his life in the Galwan battle exactly one year ago with China are feeling the pinch of the shortage of water in their area. They are forced to purchase water from a man supplying water to them with help of tankers.
Parents of the Ankush Thakur said that though they had apprised the department of the Water yet no action was taken to mitigate their sufferings.

Ankush's family members lamented that neither the Department of Water supply nor the district administration had taken any steps to solve their water problems.

Anil Kumar, the father of the martyr said that the problem of drinking water in the house continues and water was being supplied through water tankers. Apart from the IPH department, a written complaint has also been made to the district administration in this regard but till now the problem of water has not been resolved.

He said the family was being ignored by the authorities for no reason.

The sad father was pained to say that even after one year of various announcements made by the Chief Minister, Jai Ram Thakur made to them when the Chief Minister had visited their house; most of the announcements were yet to be implemented/fulfilled.

He also said that the Congress had also promised to build a memorial along with making a statue of the martyr, but nothing was done by them too and that was also a matter of great concern.

Similarly, Usha Devi, the mother of the martyr was also upset with the shortage of water in the village and the failure of the authorities to solve that. She said that local people were also to be blamed for creating a water crisis for their family.

She also said that the family had yet not received any relief from the government as was promised after the death of her son.

A resident Nand Lal Ranaut said that the announcements made in the name of the martyr and it should be implemented soon. He said that basic facilities in the martyr's house should be provided soon.

It’s worth mentioning here that it was on June 16th when Sepoy Ankush Thakur (21 years) had achieved martyrdom during the Galwan valley face-off with China.

The Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur had also visited Karohta, the native village of the martyr, and had many announcements including building a gate in the name of the martyr, to provide road facilities to the cremation ground.

But after one year has passed, till now the government has not completed any announcement except naming the local school, after the martyr, lament locals.(UNI)
