Forest dept gives Elephant Lakshmi back to temple, reject PETA's claim (Video)

Puducherry: Lakshmi, the elephant at the famous Manakula Vinayagar Temple here will soon be back.
It may be noted that on a complaint from PETA (People for the Ethnic Treatment of Animals), Lakshmi was taken to the Krishi Vigayan Kendra at Kurumambet near here to get a forest environment.
 
Several Hindu organizations  protested this and demanded that the elephant should be at the temple to bless the devotees.Legislators Anbazhagan and Lakshminarayanan had threatened to organize agitations.
 
Meanwhile, Chief Minister V Narayanasamy in a note to the Manakula VinayagarDevasthanam  on Thursday maintained that the elephant was taken to the KVK for rejuvenation by the forest department and now the animal is fine  and certified by the veterinary doctors.
