New Delhi: Stone pelting was reported again on Monday in violence-hit Jahangirpuri area here even as the police cordoned off the area and appealed for calm.
Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana was addressing the press about the Jahangirpuri violence when the fresh trouble took place.
Asthana said the investigation into the Jahangirpuri violence has been given to the Crime Branch and 14 teams were working on the case.
“CCTV footage, social media posts and other digital evidence are being analysed,” he said.
He said 23 people have been arrested and eight of them have previous involvement in various cases. More arrests were likely.
Asthana said: “We are looking into every aspect. Till the situation normalises, restrictions will be in place.”
Delhi Police and paramilitary forces have been deployed in Jahangirpuri and other sensitive areas across the city, he said. (UNI)
