Kaithal: A young man who assaulted his friend and ran away with his mobile phone has been sentenced to five years' imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000.

Sessions court Judge Ritu YK Bahl ruled that an additional sentence of two months will have to be served for not paying the fine.

In this regard, Krishna Verma, resident Ashoka Colony, Kaithal, had filed a case number 103 under Section 379-A IPC on March 10, 2017.

On behalf of the prosecution, the case was argued by Deputy District Attorney Jasvir Dhanda.
Jasvir Dhanda said that the complainant Krishna Verma's friend Vishal, resident Kanungo Mohalla, Kaithal, came to his house at around 4 o'clock on March 10, 2017 and said that I have to go to the public market to get money from my father, you leave me there on your bike.

Krishna made him sit on the bike to take him. On reaching the Janata Market, Krishna started making a call on his mobile phone, Samsung J-7. Accused, Vishal hit him and ran away after snatching Krishna's mobile phone.

Krishna chased him but he could not catch him. Krishna filed a complaint at the police station following which the police arrested Vishal.

The court of sessions judge Ritu Bahl, after hearing both sides, found Vishal guilty of snatching the phone in the light of evidence and witnesses, and sentenced him to five years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000.
