Himachal Pradesh to go for polls on Nov 9

New Delhi: The Election Commission on Thursday announced that Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh would be held on November 9 in a single phase. The results will be announced on December 18. Announcing this at the press conference here, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AK Joti said that EVMs with VVPATs will be used on all polling booths for 68 assembly seats.
 

As expected dates for Gujarat assembly polls were not announced simultaneously, but the CEC said the election will be held in the state before December 18. There will be 7521 polling stations with disabled-friendly systems. For convenience of the voters, the commission has chosen ground floor for voting purposes. For the first time, 136 polling stations will be managed by women only in the state, Mr Joti added. With the announcement of the date, the state has come under the model code of conduct, where the state government as well as the central government cannot take any policy related decisions for the hilly state.
