Bengaluru: After a three year successful stint, IT giant Infosys Ltd CEO and Managing Director Vishal Sikka today resigned from the post for the reason he attributed to ‘’unrelenting, malicious, personal’’ attacks on him. Mr Sikka took over the helm of the second biggest software services exporter in the country founded by IT icon Narayana Murthy and six others and brought the company on the path of great recovery amid slowdown in the industry.
In a letter addressed to employees in his personal blog Sikka said ’’I cannot constantly defend myself against unrelenting, malicious, personal attacks.’’ He said it was clear to him that despite the success Infosys witnessed over the last three years, and the powerful seeds of innovation that the company had sown, ‘’ I cannot carry out my job as CEO and continue to create value, while also constantly defending against unrelenting, baseless/malicious and increasingly personal attacks." Company sources said the Board had accepted his resignation and said Mr Sikka would not be leaving the company and he had been appointed as Executive Vice Chairman for Infosys. As an interim measure the company appointed U B Pravin Rao as interim MD and CEO of Infosys. In his resignation speech, Sikka says, "I feel proud of our progress and achievements." (UNI)
