Jammu: Army on Thursday said that two Pakistani terrorists were killed and two soldiers were martyred in Sunderbani gunfight in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Defence spokesman said that based on information regarding infiltration and movement of terrorists in Dadal area of Sundarbani Sector, District Rajouri, Army had launched extensive search operations with effect from Jun 29, 2021.
“Subsequently, the information was corroborated on Thursday and a search and destroy patrol seeking proactive engagement with the terrorists, spotted the terrorists in Dadal forest area, and challenged them,” said the spokesman.
He said that the terrorists opened fire and lobbed hand grenades leading to a fierce encounter in which two foreign terrorists from Pakistan were killed.
“Two AK-47 Rifles and ammunition in heavy quantity have been recovered from the terrorists,” he added.
In the operation, the spokesman said two Army personnel identified as Naib Sub Sreejith M and Sepoy Maruprolu Jaswanth Reddy received fatal injuries.
