Kerala: Fire Force personnel rescue 4 Karnataka migrant workers stranded in middle of Chittor river (VIDEO)

Palakkad: Four persons including an old woman from Mysore who were stranded for about two hours on the top of a rock in the middle of the river Chittor were rescued by Fire Force personnel in an half -an- hour mission, on Tuesday.
 
According to police, a group of migrant workers from Karnataka, now residing in Chittoor for construction works, entered the river Chittoor to bath, near the Narani Alumkadavu around the afternoon, without the prior knowledge of the opening of the Moolathara regulator shutter.
 
The water rose suddenly due to the opening of the Moolathara shutter and a few of them swam to the bank, before the surge of water in the river.
 
They alerted the residents who informed the police. Police and fire force personnel rushed to the spot.
 
Police and Fire Force personnel rescued Devi (60), her husband Lakshmanan (65) Vishnu(30), and Suresh(32) by using the rope within 30 minutes.

Kerala Electricity Minister K Krishnan Kutty, who is also the local MLA of Chittur rushed to the spot and coordinated the rescue operations from the beginning.
 
The health conditions of all four rescued persons were stated to be fine.
