Lucknow: A woman and her daughter were killed and one more person was injured when a hoarding installed outside Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Sushant Golf City area collapsed on an SUV reportedly due to dust storm on Monday, police sources said here.
The sources said the incident took place at Gate Number 2 of Ekana stadium when the giant sized hoarding collapsed reportedly due to strong wind and dust storm in the afternoon. "The hoarding structure collapsed on an SUV which was passing by the stadium," they said.
The SUV passengers, including its driver and two women, were trapped under the debris.
"Senior police officers along with the fire brigade rushed to the spot and launched a rescue and relief operation," the police said.
Deputy Police Commissioner (South) Vineet Jaiswal said that three persons, including two women, who were trapped inside the SUV were rescued and sent to the hospital.
"Priti Jaggi (38) and her 15-year-old daughter Angel succumbed to their injuries at the hospital," the sources said.
The SUV driver Sartaj (28) sustained serious injuries and was being treated at Lohia hospital.
"The deceased were residents of Indira Nagar colony under Ghazipur police station," they said. (UNI)
