Beed: Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray along with Deputy CM Ajit Pawar and PWD Minister Ashok Chavan on Tuesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi.

The trio raised several pertinent issues with the premier; including Maratha quota, OBC reservation in local bodies, COVID vaccination and crop insurance.

They requested PM Modi to ask the Indian Crop Insurance Company to extend its services across Maharashtra, which at present is only available in this district.

Popularly known as Beed crop insurance pattern, the scheme was initiated by Beed Guardian Minister Dhananjay Munde after several other companies expressed financial inability to provide services for the Kharif and Rabi seasons of 2019.

Hence, Mr Munde followed up with the Center through the state government and signed a three-year agreement with the Indian Insurance Company to implement the new pattern here.

In this scheme, the profit as well as the compensation is shared between the government and the company. (UNI)
