PM Modi comes to crease as finisher in Karnataka polls, first rally today

Bengaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the triumph card for the Bharatiya Janata Party in the 2018 Assembly elections in Karnataka will sound his bugle from today crisscrossing the State for five days and addressing a whopping 15 meetings including two in the city which has 28 of the 224 constituencies.
Mr Modi, who will be visiting the State for the first time after the election date was announced,  will start from Chamarajanagar tomorrow targeting Chief Minister Siddaramaiah who is contesting from Chamundeshwari in Mysore district. In his first meeting, Mr Modi would cover the districts of Chamarajanagar, Mysore and Mandya covering 22 constituencies. He would also addressing meetings in Udupi and Chikkod. In all in the the first leg he would be covering 48 constituencies.
 
According to the tentative schedule drawn by the BJP, the Prime Minister will return on May three and address meetings in Kalaburagi, Ballari and Bengaluru covering 47 constituencies.
On the third leg on May 5 he would concentrate on Tumkur, Shivamogga and Gadag covering a total 49 constituencies. on the last lap  Mr Modi would be addressing meetings in Raichur, Chitradurga and Kolar on May 7 and Vijayapura, Mangaluru and Bengaluru on May 8. during the two days he would be covering 65 constituencies.
 
The Prime Minister besides highlighting the benefits of voting BJP to ensure alround development of the State, is likely to touch upon the alleged non performance and corruption in the Siddaramaiah government.  In his sermon to the party workers recently he had told them not to harp on the negativity of the political opponents, but to highlight developmental aspects of the Centre. He wanted them to move closer to the voters rather than indulging in hate politics.(UNI)
