A national-level shooter returning from a shooting competition was allegedly harassed by the bus conductor on a Bhopal–Pune bus.
The incident came to light when the bus was stopped around 1 am at a check point set up in the Rajendra Nagar area in Indore. The victim warned the accused that she would file a complaint against them. Frightened, they fled the scene, abandoning the bus.
With no crew on board, the bus remained parked on the roadside for hours. Police later arranged for another driver for the bus, and Rajendra Nagar police have registered a complaint.
‘Bad Touch’ Complaint
According to Rajendra Nagar Police Station in-charge Neeraj Birthare, the 30-year-old woman from Pune had travelled to Bhopal and was returning on a Verma Travels bus. During the journey, the conductor allegedly touched her inappropriately while pretending to ask about her seat. When she objected, he left, but returned repeatedly under various pretexts and continued to harass her.
"When the bus reached Indore, the accused duo spotted the police conducting a check. On seeing the police personnel, both the accused abandoned their vehicle and fled from the spot," the police official said.
Both - the driver and his assistant - were drunk at that time, the police said.
Passengers Suffer in the Cold
The woman then submitted a written complaint seeking action. With the crew fleeing, passengers got off the bus and were left waiting in the cold for hours. Police contacted the bus operator and arranged for another driver and cleaner, after which the bus proceeded to its destination.
