Nagpur: Nagpur police have arrested a woman accused of marrying eight men and blackmailing them for money using threats and bogus legal complaints, police said.

The accused, identified as Samira Fatima, alias Seema, was nabbed by Gittikhadan police after evading arrest for over a year.

Samira was arrested from a tea stall in the Civil Lines area in Maharashtra's Nagpur following a tip-off, the police said.

Samira married businessman Ghulam Pathan and then filed a rape case against him after taking money, police said, adding Pathan approached Gttikhadan police, following which a probe began.

Later, she cheated a bank manager by posing as a divorced schoolteacher, who also filed a case against her at Manakpur police station after facing blackmail and an extortion demand of Rs 50 lakh, the official said.

According to the police, Samira targeted married men via social media, presenting herself as a divorcee willing to become a second wife.

Once the marriage was formalised, she allegedly began threatening her husbands with legal action and extorted money from them.

A probe is underway to identify any additional victims or accomplices involved in the scam, police added.
