New Delhi:National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday arrested one of key conspirators Md Gufran in connection with ISIS Amroha case.He will be produced before the Delhi's Patiala House Court on Sunday.
Accused Gufran is a resident of Banshkedi in Amroha district and one of the 13 accused in this case and during investigation, his role had surfaced as one of the key conspirators in planning to carry out terrorist attacks in Delhi NCR and Uttar Pradesh.
He was inspired by ideology of the proscribed organisation Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and he formed a pro-ISIS module namely Harkat Ul Harb-e-Islam with the help of accused persons arrested earlier to wage war against government.
Investigation has revealed that he was instrumental in procurement of arms and ammunition and also explosives to carry out terrorist attacks in Delhi NCR and UP, the probe agency said.
Twelve accused persons have earlier been arrested in the case.
The ISIS Amroha case pertains to a group of Pro-ISIS terrorists who formed a terrorist gang which was engaged in acts preparatory to commission of terror attacks with a view to wage war against India.
The group was found to be inspired by ideology of ISIS and was conspiring and preparing to target places of importance in and around National Capital Territory of Delhi.
It was gathered that Mufti Mohd Suhail alias Hazrath, resident of Jafrabad, Seelampur in Delhi, was the Amir of pro-IS module who mobilised funds and procured weapons, ammunition and explosive materials to prepare IEDs with his other associates.
The NIA cracked down this gang on December 26, 2018 and arrested ten persons who wanted to carry out a series of blasts in UP and region of the national capital. (UNI)
