Chargesheet filed against B'luru based doctor & his aide for joining L-e-T

New Delhi:The national anti-terror probe agency NIA on Monday filed a supplementary charge-sheet before the Bengaluru NIA Special Court against two accused persons namely Dr Sabeel Ahmed aka Motu, a resident of Bengaluru and Asadulla Khan aks Abu Sufiyan who was a resident of Hyderabad under sections 120 B IPC, sec. 18, 38, 39 of the UA(P)A in the Lashkar- e- Taiba (LeT) conspiracy case.
The case was initially registered as FIR No. 384/2012 at Basaveshwaranagar police station in Bengaluru City on August 29, 2012 and pertained to conspiracy hatched by members of the proscribed terrorist organizations LeT and Harkat-ul-Jehad-e-Islami (HuJI) to commit subversive activities and wage war against Government of India.
 
“They had procured illegal arms and ammunition for targeted killings of important personalities of Hindu community in Bangalore and Hubli in Karnataka, Nanded in Maharashtra and in Hyderabad to disturb the communal harmony and strike terror in society”, the officials in NIA said..
 
NIA took over this case on November 25, 2012 and re-registered the case as RC-04/2012/NIA/HYD and earlier charge sheeted 17 accused persons in this case after completion of investigation against them, they added.
 
A detailed investigation has established that accused persons Dr Sabeel Ahmed and Asadulla Khan, the members of proscribed terrorist organisation LeT, were involved in criminal conspiracy along with other accused persons in supporting and furthering the cause of LeT in Damam and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the probe agency said in a statement.
 
They had actively participated in conspiracy meetings in which terrorist activities like targeted killings of important personalities of Hindu community in Bangalore and Hubli in Karnataka and Nanded in Maharashtra were planned, it added.
 
The Bengaluru NIA Special Court had earlier convicted 13 accused persons on September 16, 2016 with five years imprisonment and with fine for their involvement in offences under sections 10A, 13(1) b, 17, 18, 38 of UA(P)A, Sections 120 B, 115, 153A, 399, 465, 466, 471 of IPC, sec. 3(1) read with 25 (1B) (a) of Arms Act, Section 3, 5(1), of Official Secrets Act in past.
 
Trial has been continuing against earlier charge-sheeted three accused persons, the NIA said, adding that the further investigation against six absconding accused persons also continued.(UNI)
