NIA joins dots, arrests 14 terror suspects in Delhi after raids in Chennai

Chennai: In a major crackdown, officials of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested 14 terror suspects in New Delhi on Monday and they were brought to Chennai for further interrogation.
All the 14 would be produced before Special NIA Court JudgeSenthurpandian at Poonamallee for Judicial remand.The accused were arrested for allegedly making donations to banned extremists groups. 
 
NIA teams tracked them with the bank account details.Today's crackdown comes in the backdrop of NIA arresting two in Nagapattinam in connection with Tamil Nadu Ansarulla case 
and for planning to carry our terror attacks in India.
 
A Special Team brought both the accused--Hassan Ali (28) and Harish Mohammed (32)--both residents of Nagapattinam, to Chennai and produced before a NIA Special Court at Poonamallee,which remanded them in judicial custody till July 25.
 
NIA said based on the incriminating facts revealed during the searches and subsequent investigation since Saturday, Hassan Ali and Harish Mohamed were arrested. 
 
The NIA registered Tamil Nadu Ansarulla case on July nine against Syed Bukhari (A-1), resident of Chennai, Hassan Ali Yunusmaricar (A-2), Mohammed Yusuffudeen Harish Mohamed (A-3), (both natives of Nagapattinam) and others under Secs 120-B, 121-A and 122 of IPC, besides under sections 17, 18, 18-B, 38 and 39 of the UA (P) Act, based on credible information received that the accusedpersons, while being within and beyond India, had conspired and conducted consequent preparations to wage war against the Indian Government by forming the terrorist gang Ansarulla. 
 
The accused persons and their associates had collected funds and made preparations to carry out terrorist attacks in India, with the intention of establishing Islamic rule in India.
 
The NIA had on July 13 raided the house and office of Syed Mohammed Bukhari in Chennai, besides at the houses of Hassan Ali, and Harish Mohammed in Nagapattinam district. 
 
During the raids, nine mobiles, 15 SIM cards, seven memory cards, three laptops, five hard discs, six pen drives, two tablets and three CDs/DVDs, besides documents including magazines, banners, notices, posters and books have been seized by NIA.(UNI)
