Nitish Kumar first became the Chief Minister in 2000, but had to resign due to lack of majority. In 2004, his declared assets amounted to Rs 43.89 lakh. By 2024, his wealth had grown to Rs 1.64 crore. Interestingly, in 2018, his total assets had crossed Rs 3 crore.
Born on 1 March 1951 in Bakhtiyarpur, Bihar, Nitish Kumar is 74 years old. A mechanical engineering graduate from Bihar College of Engineering, he entered politics through Jayaprakash Narayan’s movement.
According to the affidavit filed by Nitish Kumar during the 2024 Legislative Council elections, his total assets stand at Rs 1,64,82,719. His total income for the financial year 2022–23 was Rs 4,92,810. He owns movable assets worth Rs 16,82,719, which include a 2015 model Ford EcoSport, an air conditioner, an exercise bicycle, a treadmill, and a washing machine. According to a Jansatta report, Nitish Kumar also has 13 cows and ten calves, with an estimated value of Rs 1.45 lakh.
In terms of immovable property, Nitish Kumar owns a 1,000 sq. ft. residential house in Dwarka, Delhi, valued at Rs 1,48,00,000. In his 2004 election affidavit, the same property was valued at Rs 11,69,000.
