New Delhi: In view of the rising incidents of rape and violence against children, Nobel Peace prize laureate Kailash Satyarthi on Tuesday urged all the political parties to devote a day in Parliament to formulate a National Budgeted Action Plan (NBAP) for expeditious delivery of justice to the victims."I call on all the political parties to devote a day in Parliament to formulate NBAP for expeditious delivery of justice for rapes and violence against children," Mr Satyarthi said at the release of a report on the status of pending trials in child sexual abuses case in India by his Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation (KSCF).Calling the alarming and unstoppable rise of rapes and abuse against children a 'National Emergency," he said that these issues should be looked after swiftly with strict action.

Mr Satyarthi demanded that a National Children's Tribunal for victim/survivor centric justice delivery based on the principles of reparation and natural justice on the lines of National Green Tribunal (NGT).He also demanded exclusive courts for fast track and time-bound trial in such cases. Besides, setting up a National Grid for tracking pendency and performance of courts for trial of cases of crime against children.

Expressing his anger over the Kathua rape case, Mr Satyarthi said, "the body of the 8-year-old girl shouldn't be a battlefield of 'politics'. In this time of eroding moral conscience, we all have to wage a war against such incident. The fearlessness about law in the minds of perpetrators needs a strong social movement."
On being asked about death penalty to rapists, he said, "first, let timely justice be delivered in pending cases. I will comment on the matter after a 'draft' comes in this regard.(UNI)
