New Delhi:The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed a plea filed by Bharatiya Janata Party leader and lawyer, Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay, seeking a direction and to lay down guidelines in connection with his petition to define the term minority.
Contending that Hindus were in a minority in several regions, Mr Uphadyay had cited data from Lakshadweep (2.5%), Mizoram (2.75 %), Nagaland (8.75%), Meghalaya (11.53%), J&K (28.44 %), Arunachal (29%), Manipur (31.39%) and Punjab (38.40%).

A bench, headed by Chief Justice of India S A Bobde,  asked Mr Upadhayay to approach the Delhi High Court, for relief."We don't find any merit in the petition and thereby we dismiss it. We, however, grant him liberty to approach the Delhi High Court if wants relief in the case."  (UNI)
