New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Monday threw up a challenge to the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation – the ONGC to develop an electric chulha(oven) that could be used for all kinds of Indian cooking. The Prime Minister's challenge came while addressing officers and staff of the ONGC at a function to mark the launch of the last mile electric connectivity scheme, the SAUBHAGYA Yojana, on the occasion of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay’s birth anniversary.

''Whether it is 'pakauri' or 'chapati'--the oven should be equipped to make cooking of all kinds of Indian dishes possible, '' he said The Prime Minister underlined this innovation would, in one stroke, significantly impact the nation’s dependence on imported fuel. He said that while the world was working towards electric cars, in India, in addition to electric cars, electric stoves would go a long way in meeting the needs of the people. He asked ONGC to invite startups and youth to innovate in this field. (UNI)
