PM Modi extends greetings on beginning of Ramadan

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday greeted the nation on the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.
 
"Greetings on the start of Ramadan," Modi tweeted, may this holy month bring greater unity and harmony in our society. It should also confirm the importance of serving the poor.”

Ramadan is the holiest month for the Muslim community. Throughout this month, people keep fasting from sunrise to sunset, the fast starts with Sahari in the morning and opens the fast by iftar in the evening.
 
Ramadan is called the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and the month of Barakat.
 
This month of Ramadan is sometimes 29 days and sometimes 30 days. (UNI)
